Bed Cord FAQ's

  1. When does a bed cord need replacing?

  2. How do I order replacement bed cords?

  3. Is it necessary to replace the entire bed cord if I find a section burnt or broken?

1. When does a bed cord need replacing?

Most bed cords will not need replacing unless they are burnt. It will be evident when your tanning unit has defective bed cords. All or some of the functions of the bed will not work if there is a burnt bed cord.
During routine maintenance, if you see a frayed, split, or otherwise damaged cord or wire, replace it then. This will prevent any future electrical damage to other components in the unit, as well as preventing down time.

2. How do I order replacement bed cords?

As always, have the make, model, and year of your tanning bed.
Be prepared to explain where the cord runs. For example, if you are looking for a top to bottom bed cord, please explain to the order taker that you are looking for the cord that connects the top to the bottom.
Please note the type of ends that the cord has. Some have male plugs (pins protruding) and some have female plugs (plugs with holes). There are some types of bed cords that have no plug, but are simply hardwired.
If your cord has plugs, please note how many pins or prongs are in each end.
A physical description of the cord and especially the plug, are very helpful when ordering replacement cords. For example, is your plug round, square, etc.

3. Is it necessary to replace the entire bed cord if I find a section burnt or broken?

We recommend that you replace the entire length of cord. There are some cases that this will be evident. For example, if the plug is burnt and melted together, you will more than likely have to replace the entire cord assembly.
If you believe that the wire can simply be cut and spliced, do not attempt to do this on your own. Please consult an electrician for any repairs of this kind.
